Mark “Turk” Powell serves as a Partner with GSI Capital Partners. Mr. Powell is a seasoned CEO, Principal and Board Director with over 30 years of experience founding, building, operating and exiting three successful delivery-focused service, technology and mission critical facility enterprises. During his tenure as CEO for these companies, fast growth and rapid scaling was the norm. As CEO, these companies achieved a combined CAGR that was over 40% for his 27 year tenure.
Each company experienced successful exits at above-market multiples. His broad-based expertise includes strategic planning, complex operations management, capital funding structures/raise, IT systems, marketplace adaptation, and exceptional market valuation. His customers included large and small private enterprises, multiple government agencies with a focus on DoD, Intelligence Community, VA, and others. He has special expertise in security (both digital and physical) and datacenter design, build and operations.
Mr. Powell works closely with the senior leadership of companies in the successful execution of their business model. He has experience in all aspects of business funding thru Private Equity, Investment Banking, and Venture Capital. As a Venture Capital Partner, Mr. Powell’s team raised substantial funding for multiple companies at various stages of development.
He was the driving force as Board Chairmen in the creation of the Chesapeake Regional Technology Council, which is now the Maryland Tech Council. Mr. Powell has served on multiple civic and non-profit boards during his career, Including Vice-Chairman of Luminis Health Care.
Mr. Powell was elected as a member of the Legends Circle (Hall of Fame-Maryland Technology Council), appointed by the Governor of Maryland to be a Board Member of the Strategic Technology Board (Statewide Cyber Policy), Anne Arundel County Business Leader of the Year (Chamber of Commerce) and one of the Top 25 CEO’s in Maryland (The Maryland Gazette).Mr. Powell is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Mr. Powell was awarded an MBA from University of Maryland where he was selected to be the Wlliam F. Holin Scholar. He served as a Marine Corps Officer and is a Service-Disabled Veteran.
